"Interior environments are created to be simple and uncluttered as its function permits incorporating comfort and freedom of spirit
within its inhabited realm."

History and Background

Nancy Armstrong is co-owner and principal of her namesake business, Armstrong Planning and Design, started in 1979. As an independent business with a primary focus on interior design Nancy soon adopted a philosophy for design that included the development of responsible, life enhancing interior environments which became the foundation for the company's mission. Armstrong created interior master planning as a vehicle for accomplishing interiors with aesthetic appeal and functionality implementing the specific requirements of each project.

Health care facility design became a passion and a primary focus as Armstrong led the company into design innovation in the early 80's and today continues to move forward embracing the challenge of creating comforting interior environments in an age of technology and nuclear medicine. Ecological responsibility is adopted as an integral component of the company's agenda for the successful completion of each project. The company's history is signified by its ethics, innovation, experience, knowledge and responsibility.

Experience and Certification

Armstrong has national and international experience in design development and project management addressing regional culture and its relevant statutes. A history of coordinating architecture and engineering teams and submitting proposals for major projects reinforces the value of services provided by Armstrong Planning and Design. Nancy is an advocate of professionalism in Idaho's design community. A member of IIDA and CCIDC (California Council of Interior Design Certification), Nancy is one of the founding members of IDI (Interior Designers of Idaho). She was instrumental in incorporating national standards for the organization by encouraging and creating awareness of the NCIDQ for professional status.

Original Designs and Artistic Accomplishments

Nancy has incorporated many of her furniture designs, specifically chairs into health care and commercial projects. Nancy and her design staff are currently designing a product line for Thematics, a product line of furnishings, accessories and custom interior architectural elements for health care facility application. The line will be introduced at the National Healthcare Symposium in San Diego, April, 2003.

Her artwork featuring a collection of eighteen, 29" x 30, acrylic on Linen, called "Little Ones and Their Friends" in acrylic on canvas was inspired by Armstrong Planning and Design's health care facility design projects for the children's hospital and other pediatric areas. A new collection depicting children and architecture includes five, 22" x 24" works in acrylic on linen. The completed collection will be announced.

Four children's books have been written by Nancy from 1997 to 2003, which includes over seventy of her illustrations.
